Committee Vows to Hold Inter-Korean Workers’ Football Match

A South Korean committee that hopes to promote a football match between laborers from the two Koreas has vowed to hold the game this year.

The committee held a meeting in Seoul on Monday and stressed the need to improve inter-Korean relations and open channels of dialogue and cooperation between the two Koreas. The committee said this should start by having workers meet on the football pitch, especially as 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of two Koreas’ liberation from Japanese colonial rule.

The committee said it will open the South-North match on May 1, or May Day.
