Local Soccer Tournaments to Be Held

Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) — Several soccer tournaments will be held this year in the DPRK.

The first round of the premier league for 2011 already started at Kim Il Sung Stadium in Pyongyang on February 20.

The following rounds will be held on the sidelines of sports contests for Mangyongdae Prize and Pochonbo Torch Prize and national championship.

The premier league involves the April 25, Mangyongbong, Sobaeksu, Rimyongsu, Amnokgang, Pyongyang, Kigwancha, Ministry of Light Industry, Ryongnamsan and Ponghwasan teams.

The Mangyongdae Prize and Pochonbo Torch Prize contests will also include soccer matches of teams outside the premier league, as well as Futsal.

A national soccer tournament of provincial teams will take place in May and June and a national youth championship in September and October.

Technical renovation contests, regional soccer matches and tournament of juvenile sports schools are also expected this year.
