Pyongyang, April 2 (KCNA) — The Sports Contest for Mangyongdae Prize opened with due ceremony on Thursday at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
It will be held in Pyongyang, Phyongsong City of South Phyongan Province, Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province, Tongrim County of North Phyongan Province and other places. Its participants will compete in dozens of events including, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, Korean wrestling, ground hockey and field and track.
Present at the ceremony were members of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned, sportspeople and other working people in the city.
Kim Yong Hun, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.
At the end of the ceremony there took place a men’s volleyball game between the Amnokgang Team and the Pyongyang City Team.
