Sports Contest of Diplomatic Corps Held

Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) — The sports contest of diplomatic corps in the DPRK took place at the Taesongsan Pleasure Park here on October 7-12.
The corps, divided into five teams, competed with each other in the events of football, volleyball and basketball.
Among the spectators were Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, officials concerned, ambassadors of different countries, representatives of international bodies, family members of the different embassies and sports fans.
There were the finals on Oct. 12. The football title was taken by the team of embassies of European, Middle East, African and Latin American countries, the basketball title by the team of embassies of Asian countries and the volleyball title by the team of UN cooperation organizations.
That day, the participants enjoyed amusement games, divided into Hong (red) and Chong (blue) teams.
Prizes were awarded to the successful teams and individuals.
Then a national food show was given by families of the diplomatic corps.
Iranian Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi expressed thanks for having provided the sports contest of the diplomatic corps. Saying that the contest well showed the friendly relations between the DPRK and all other countries, he hoped that the friendly relationship among countries would grow stronger. -0-
