The official schedule on Monday has been canceled for North Korea’s youth football team that arrived in South Korea on Sunday for an international tournament.

The organizer of the tournament, the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, said the North Korean teenagers had been set to visit the JS Football Center and hold a news conference, but the events were canceled as it hasn’t been able to finalize negotiations with the North.

The football team will hold training sessions and practice matches before participating in the U-15 competition scheduled to begin on Friday and run through Sunday in Gyeonggi Province.

A total of six teams from four countries including China and Uzbekistan will be competing in the U-15 event. It is the first time in seven years that North Korea’s youth football team has visited South Korea.
