U23: RPDC – Cambogia 4-1

Bangkok: DPR Korea clinched their second AFC U-23 Championship 2016 qualifying win as they defeated Cambodia 4-1 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand on Sunday.
Two goals in both halves of the Group G game made sure the North Koreans claimed their second three points after downing the Philippines 4-0 in their campaign opener two days earlier.
Ho Myong-chol opened Korea’s book with a 17th minute goal before Kim Ju-song doubled the advantage on 38 minutes.
Substitute Jo Kwang, who came on to replace Ho on 36 minutes, made an impact with his goal 20 minutes later, while skipper Jang Kuk-chol took it up to 4-0 with a 69th minute goal. Sary Matnorotin registered Cambodia’s consolation goal on 84 minutes.
With six points behind them, Ra Pong-gi’s side will take on Thailand while the Cambodians, led by South Korean coach Lee Tae-hoon, will handle the Philippines in the group’s last game on Tuesday.
Ten group winners and five best second-placed teams from all groups will join hosts Qatar at the AFC U-23 Championship 2016, with January’s 16-team competition also serving as Asia’s qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio.
