Premier League Football Matches under Way in DPRK

    Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) — Premier league football matches for the DPRK Championships, started on September 20, are going on, drawing attention of experts and fans.
Taking part in the league matches are 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams.
The match between Sonbong Team and April 25 Team ended 2:1 on September 26 and the match between Kigwancha Team and Amnokgang Team 3:2 on September 30 in men’s event. And Sobaeksu Team defeated April 25 Team 1:0 on October 4 in women’s event. All those results were unexpected.
As of October 16, Hwaebul, April 25 and Amnokgang teams are taking the lead in men’s event while Sobaeksu, Amnokgang and Pyongyang teams in women’s event.
The premier league football matches will run till October 29. -0-

Women’s Football Tournament underway in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) — A women’s football tournament goes on at the Sosan Football Stadium here, in celebration of the birthday (September 9) of the DPRK.
Eleven teams are taking part in the tournament (Aug. 20-Sept. 9).
At present, the preliminaries of the tournament are going at the final stage, divided into two groups.
According to the results of group league matches till Sept. 1, Sobaeksu and Amnokgang teams in group A and Rimyongsu and Pyongyang teams in group B were qualified to advance into the semifinals.
An official of the DPRK Football Association told KCNA that the teams’ tactics and their players’ skills further improved and 63 goals were scored in 24 group league matches.
The semifinals are to be held on Sept. 6 and the finals on Sept. 9.

Final Game of Soccer Tournament for Torch Cup Held

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) — A final game of the soccer tournament for torch cup was held at the Yanggakdo Football Stadium on Thursday, the Youth Day.
Among the spectators were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers’ Party of Korea, Vice-Premier Kim Yong Jin, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Yong Hun, Chairman of the C.C., the youth league Jon Yong Nam, officials of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned, youth and students and Pyongyang citizens.
The final game took place between the April 25 Team and the Hwaebul Team.
The April 25 Team beat its rival 1:0.
The cup and medals were awarded to the April 25 Team.
