Jong Tae Se: voglio il giappone ai quarti

"Il girone è molto difficile, ma le squadre mediorientali non sono più forti come una volta. Non ci sono più tanti giocatori iraniani in Europa" queste le parole del bomber coreano Jong Tae Se prima della sfida contro l'Iran.
L'obiettivo dell'attaccante Zainichi è chiaro: "Dobbiamo passare il turno in qualsiasi modo, voglio sfidare il Giappone ai quarti di finale". Jong, infatti è nato in Giappone e ha giocato 4 anni nella J-League: per lui, e per gli altri coreani etnici nati in giappone, sarebbe praticamente un derby.

Doha: They may not have looked the part but two Englishmen were part of the small contingent of DPR Korea fans at Qatar Sports Club Stadium on Tuesday, watching their favourite side play out a goalless draw against the United Arab Emirates in their Group D opener at the AFC Asian Cup.

Having cheered on the DPR Koreans at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa last year, Liverpudlians David and Daniel decided to take their passion further by following them to Qatar for their first appearance in the continental championship in 19 years.

“I’m here for about a week while Dan’s going to stay right through the group stage,” said David to www.the-afc.com.

“Yeah, just like at the World Cup last year when we went out after three games,” Daniel responded.

The pair were part of a maverick group of overseas fans who adopted the DPR Korea side as their team of choice ahead of the World Cup in South Africa. And while they didn’t appear to be singing along with any of the chants coming from the official group of flag-waving DPR Korea fans, who were all neatly attired in long-sleeved white shirts and ties, they nonetheless declared themselves as supporters of Jo Tong-sop’s side.

“It’s interesting to follow them just because they are still such an unknown quantity in international football,” said David in his distinctly un-Korean sounding Scouse accent.

“Yeah, they haven’t been to many international tournaments, so it’s good to see them playing here today,” chimed in Daniel.

The DPR Korean fans gave it their best effort but they were little match for the much larger group of UAE fans in the crowd of 3,639.

They may not have seen any goals but the Emirati supporters certainly created a party atmosphere as they chanted, clapped, danced, drummed and even bag-piped their way through the game.

Composed of football fans from all over the seven Emirates, including supporters of league rivals Al Ain, Al Wasl and Al Wahda, the group included many who had journeyed north by road as well as 400 who made the day trip on specially arranged flights.

The chanting was led by a megaphone-toting Al Ain fan popularly known as Al Oumda (“The Chief”) and backed by an orchestra that included drums, whistle and a lone bagpipe.

“We have maybe about 1,500 fans who travelled by road and air to get here today,” said supporters’ group organiser Sultan Al Kalbawi. “But with our next game against Iraq happening on Saturday, maybe we’ll get
more fans coming up for that game.”

An Yong Hak: si sistema davanti la difesa da mediano basso. Copre le avanzate di Ryang Yong Gi e recupera diversi palloni. Non si fa mai trovare fuori zona e sembra il più lucido in regia. 7
Ryang Yong Gi: da lui ci si aspetta più qualità e non il minimo sindacale. È lui la chiave di volta del gioco coreano. 5
Kim Kuk Jin: dimostra buona personalità, il più intraprendente. Si accentra spesso e volentieri per creare superiorità e non lo fa mai a sproposito. Il migliore 7
Pak Nam Chol: si sbatte sulla sinistra ma senza costrutto. Raddoppia spesso sull’esterno degli emirati e aiuta il compagno Jon Kwang Ik. Se da quella parte non sfondano mai è anche merito suo. 5,5

Hong Yong Jo (c) certo, il rigore sbagliato pesa. Ma, paradossalmente, ha battuto un rigore “perfetto”. Fino a che regge fisicamente gioca una partita di grande sostanza, mai banale e sempre costruttivo. Esce lui e si spegne la luce. 6,5
(dal 49’ An Chol Hyok) corre, si sbatte e prova a fungere da spalla “mobile” di Jong Tae Se. Ma ormai la squadra badava a non subire un contropiede e gli attaccanti erano troppo isolati. 6
Jong Tae Se: non è al massimo e si vede. Ma su ogni pallone lanciato verso l’area avversaria è una presenza costante. Certo i suoi marcatori lo hanno asfissiato. Se riesce a trovare un po più di spazio sarà devastante. 6

Jo Tong Sop: la squadra entra in campo con lo spirito giusto. Nei primi 25 minuti mostra un gran calcio. Poi cala alla distanza, subendo il contraccolpo del rigore sbagliato. Non riesce però a trovare le contromosse per sopperire alla scarsa vena di Ryan Yong Gi. 5,5

Jo Tong Sop: siamo pronti alla prima sfida

"Abbiamo preparato i nostri calciatori tatticamente, fisicamente e mentalmente, siamo ottimisti. Possiamo battere una grande come l'Iran, il nostro obiettivo è passare il girono e arrivare ai quarti di finale" cosi ha dichiarato il commissario tecnico della DPR Corea, Jo Tong Sop, nella conferenza stampa nella vigilia della sfida contro l'UAE.
"I nostri calciatori hanno avuto la possibilità di studiare gli avversari e sono molto preparati".
Jo Tong Sop ha inoltre confermato l'impazienza del bomber Jong Tae Se di partecipare alla competizione continentale: "E' appena tornato dalla sua riabilitazione. Ha giocato a lungo con il Bochum infortunato, con delle infiltrazioni, ma ora è pronto a scendere in campo".
"Durante i mondiali abbiamo messo l'accento sulla difesa, durante questa competizione attacheremo di più. I mondiali ci sono serviti per aumentare l'esperienza e presentarci più competitivi a questa competizione".
Gli Emirati Arabi Loro "hanno dei buoni singoli abili, veloci e agili, hanno buoni movimenti e buone combinazioni tra i giocatori e proveranno a far uso delle loro tattiche e dei loro punti di forza".
"La partita si può vincere o perdere, ma i miei giocatori si stanno preparando con la certezza di poter vincere quindi, anche se perdono, possono portare l'esperienza nella partita successiva e anche per il futuro della Coppa d'Asia".

Durante la conferenza stampa, ad un giornalista che avanzava perplessità sullo stato della DPR Corea, il traduttore del C.T. della nazionale ha risposto: "Vieni a visitare la Corea. Così vedi".

An Yong Hak: avremo un volto più offensivo

Il centrocampista coreano, An Yong Hak, si aspetta un gioco più offensivo per la sua nazionale, dopo il cambio in panchina: "Quando eravamo alla Coppa del Mondo siamo stati forse un po 'sulla difensiva', ma il nuovo allenatore utilizza un sistema diverso e vedrete un calcio più offensivo in questo torneo".

An, reduce dal recente trasferimento nella J-League giapponese ai Kashiwa Reysol ritiene la Corea un outsider del torneo.

"Tutti dicono che abbiamo poche possibilità di passare il turno, ma noi ci crediamo. E' il nostro sogno".

Meet the coach: Jo Tong-sop (DPR Korea)

As the man that guided DPR Korea to the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ through their victory in the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup is was only fitting that Jo Tong-sop took charge for the continental finals, having masterminded the Chollima’s success in Sri Lanka.

Jo has clocked up considerable experience coaching his country’s various national teams, with the 51-year-old having recently took the under 23s to the quarter-finals of the Asian Games shortly after working as an assistant to Kim Jong-hun at the 2010 FIFA World Cup a few months earlier, in addition to guiding the under 19s to the AFC Youth Championship title in 2006.

A former international who was part of the DPR Korea squad that defeated Danish side AGF Aarhus 2-1 to win the 17th edition of the Thailand King’s Cup, Jo playing career spanned almost two decades, spending 14 years with Potonggang before moving onto Munsubong.

DPR Korea will battle it out with defending champions Iraq, Iran and the UAE in the continental showpiece.
